Our school is in the (almost) worst part of the city. So, if security isn't vigilant, some pretty pungent types can wander in. Today a guy came into the bookstore who looked like one of these types. Dirty clothes. Dirty hair. Smelled bad. He asked me if we had copies of the California Penal Code. Then, he sat down and started looking through it. I considered pointing out that this was a bookstore, not the library, but I didn't.

Apparently, he'd been arrested recently and he wanted to look up the charges against him. I applaud his efforts at being well-informed. Everyone should be so proactive.
